Students in Mrs. Wilson’s AP Biology class and Forensic Science class completed some exciting labs this past week. AP Biology students are using Play-Doh to study animal development while getting ready for the upcoming AP test. Forensic Science students are studying Forensic Impressive Evidence. For the first time since 2006, Lincoln is ranked on the Iowa AP Index Top 50 list, coming in at #30. In fact, for the first time ever, all five DMPS high schools are on the list, compiled by the University of Iowa to rank how well Iowa high schools provide students with the opportunity to take high-level Advanced Placement courses. The DMPS School Board Youth Advisory Council has developed a survey for all DMPS students in grades 6-12 regarding the treatment of students. The survey will be open from Monday, April 22 through Friday, May 3. Click here for more information.
Lincoln High School softball tryouts and practice will begin on Monday May 6. 8th and 9th grade will be from 3:30-5:00. Grades 10-12 will run from 5:00-7:00. Practice will be every day. You must sign up in the Activities Office and have all paperwork turned in to attend practice. Rails Academy students may sign up with Mrs. Nigro.
There will be a two day Youth Opportunity Fair hosted as Hoover High School and East High School. The event targets students ages 14 to 19 years old. The event will be held at Hoover on Tuesday, May 7th from 2:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. and at East High School on Wednesday, May 8th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

On Thursday, April 18th three Lincoln business students participated in a job shadow at EMC insurance in the actuary division. Lincoln Seniors Linsey Johnson and Vannisa Teav, and Junior Summer Sanford visited EMC Insurance to learn about actuarial science. Click here for more information.
