Attention high school juniors: Nationwide Insurance is offering eight summer internships to Lincoln High School juniors.

  • 4 -5 Days/Week, 32 hours per week, 8 Weeks at $10/hour, June 8 – July 31.
  • Weekly Educational Sessions on Résumé Writing, Business Etiquette, Social Media, Business Etiquette, Professional Attire and College Preparedness.

POSITIONS OFFERED:

Support for Personal Lines Service Center

Job Summary:  The Personal Lines Service Center is responsible for taking inbound calls from members, agents, and third parties to assist in needs in servicing existing home and auto policies.  Our intern would assist in the administrative tasks related to supporting Service Center Leaders to provide the tools and resources necessary for Member Care associates to do their job successfully.

Skills/Qualifications Desired: Good computer skills, organizational skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Support for Corporate Security- Security ID Badge Project Assistant

Job Summary:  Intern will assist Corporate Security with the distribution of new ID badges for all Des Moines associates over a 4-5 week period.

Skills/Qualifications Desired: Strong organization skills and is comfortable interacting with associates. This is a very associate facing position that will be dealing with large groups of associates during the distribution period. (Two internships available)

Support for NSS Screener

Job Summary:  Outbound center for prospects who request/start quotes online.

Outbound calls to prospects that started quote online- transfer to licensed sales agent for binding. Required to follow script and make 45 outbound calls per hour

Skills/Qualifications Desired: Self-motivated, ability to remain focused while completing repetitive task.

Support for Technical Clerk

Job Summary:  This intern will work with the support operations teams for commercial ag underwriting.  Our operations group is composed of processing, billing, premium audit, associate underwriting and systems.  We provide support for underwriting from the initial submission from the agent through the audit after a policy expires.  Duties will include setting up endorsement tasks for underwriting, entering insured stock limit information, sorting mail, sending agency bills.

Skills/Qualifications Desired: Attention to detail, self-motivated, willingness to learn new duties, flexibility, positive attitude, comfortable working with computers/online systems.

Support for General Utility Clerk

Job Summary:  Intern will be a part of our Clerical Team.  This team supports the Direct Channel in all New Business activities.  This is a team located in DSM that handles a variety of ancillary tasks. Duties would include:  prepping, scanning, and mailing Welcome Packets (insurance information) to new NW members, organizing files from Agents who have left the company, research address differences using a computer.

Support for Western Personal Lines

Job Summary:  Supply organization and distribution for our new hires, Streamlining the supply distribution for our new hire process, Department mail organization and distribution, other tasks as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications Desired: Basic office skills, organization skills, personable, able to work independently.

Support for Operations Intern

Job Summary:  This intern position will be in the Operations Department, but mostly supporting Training.  Provide support for trainers with class materials, work on projects for training reports/metrics, administrative duties, other initiatives as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications Desired:  PC Skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  Knowledge of SharePoint would be beneficial.  Ability to learn new tasks quickly and be a self-starter.
