Debate Team Goes to Nationals

At the National Speech and Debate Tournament held in Dallas Texas, Ashley May was elected and served as presiding officer for her congress house at the national tournament. She brings home the first piece of hardware that Lincoln has taken from the National Tournament since becoming members of the National Speech and Debate Association in 1973.

Coach Meyer was awarded his coaching diamond at the Coach’s Honors Ceremony. The coaching diamond is awarded to a coach who has shown dedication to forensics coaching and has earned 1500 coaching points.

Lincoln also was honored for community service work and debate participation. Nicole Ramierez, Ashley May, Phylicia Brown, Brandon Winn, and Carlos Santiago were noted in the tournament honors section as having earned their 2nd or higher service citation for volunteerism in their community through public speaking or community engagement and Lincoln was noted as having 25 service citations total. To earn your first service citation, a student must be an active speech and debate member who completes 100 hours of service.
