Lincoln Supports our new ELL Families!

Holiday cheer is in the air at Lincoln High School!  This year LHS decided to promote a Secret Santa event to collect gifts and necessity items for the 45 newcomer ELL (English Language Learner) students who have recently arrived at Lincoln from all over the world.  Many of the newcomer ELLs who arrive in the U.S. lack access to basic items like blankets, clothing, hygiene products, and foods that are familiar to them.  LHS decided to help these students feel welcomed into the school community by providing some of these items plus games, soccer balls, and backpacks!  Lead by Stephanie Brennan in partnership with the ELL department, many staff members and student groups including GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) and the Student Council at both Main and RAILS pooled money together to create holiday gift baskets for each student.  The newcomer ELLs opened their gifts on Wednesday, and everyone was very excited!  There was no better way to welcome the students to U.S. for their very first winter holidays!
