LHS Sophomore Completes Service Project for Blank Children’s Hospital

Des Moines Lincoln High School sophomore Johnathan Dooley, along with Gamers Outreach co-founder Jared Richter, recently presented a mobile gaming unit to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. Called a GoKart, the mobile unit can be easily wheeled from room to room and will allow patients to play video games from their beds. Staff can plug the unit in, press the power button, and help patients choose from one of several pre-loaded, approved games.

Johnathan raised $4000 to fund the purchase of the GoKart through an online website, promotion through social media, and through donations from local businesses, friends and family. The GoKart is the first donation of its kind in Iowa.

Gamers Outreach is a non-profit organization based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. You can read more about the charity at gamersoutreach.org.
