Lincoln Drama Program to Perform at Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcare

Students from the Abraham Lincoln High School theater department will perform at 2017 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase.

 

Senior Lorena Escobar will reprise an excerpt from her role as “Gabriella Montez” in the April production of Disney’s High School Musical. In addition, select Lincoln theater students will perform in a collaborative inter-school medley led by guest Broadway music director, Adam Jones, and choreographer, Sara Brians, as part of the Showcase. Presented by Des Moines Performing Arts, the Showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Monday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. and will recognize a total of 60 schools from across the entire state.

 

Abraham Lincoln High School will also be recognized with the following awards and honors:

  • Distinguished Scene – “We’re All in This Together”
  • Outstanding Student Orchestra
  • Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role – Lorena Escobar as “Gabriella Montez”
  • Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role – Everett Reed as “Chad Danforth”
  • Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role – Brandon Winn as “Coach Bolton”
  • Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role – Owen Yoder as “Ryan Evans”
